If you are an attorney and you would like to do pro bono work for CLC or you are a professional interested in participating, there are training sessions that are scheduled four times a year. Otherwise, you can phone us at (651) 644-4438 for any other questions?

How many children does CLC currently represent?

Currently CLC represents over 500 children and the numbers continue to rise

How does CLC protect the rights of children?

CLC is comprised of volunteer staff, social workers, and attorneys. Their main objective is to represent foster care children in court. By working closely with the courts, governments agencies, and social service organizations to change policies CLC is making sure "children's voices are heard"

What does CLC do?

CLC promotes the rights and interests of Minnesota's children, especially children of color and children with disabilities, in the judicial, child welfare, health care and education systems.

Why is CLC important?

Nearly 19,000 Minnesota children live in foster care. Most of them don't have a lawyer to explain their options or advocate on their behalf. That means they get lost in the system. If a child becomes lost in the system they are at a greater risk for running away, becoming homeless, and/or dropping out of school. CLC wants to ensure that these children do not get lost in the system.

Kids in foster care have spent most of their lives having other people make decisions for them. Now they have an opportunity to play a role in making the decisions that affect them.
